Eagles Lose Tight Contest with Visiting Seahawks
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Women's Basketball encountered a tough challenge against the Keiser Seahawks at home on Halloween night, ultimately falling 60-69 in a closely contested matchup. This was the second game of the new season bringin the overall record to 1-1.
The game began with Reinhardt asserting early dominance, thanks to Mackenzie Franklin's opening layup and a series of strategic plays that led to a seven-point lead. Notably, Emariah Grant and Kiara Simpson boosted the team's score with crucial 3-pointers. However, the Seahawks caught up by the end of the first quarter, leveling the score at 14-14. The second quarter saw a shift in momentum as Keiser's Avrie Schmidt and Caidyn Cannon pushed their team ahead, finishing the half with a lead of 34-26.
Despite efforts from Reinhardt to turn the tide, Keiser maintained its lead throughout the third quarter, expanding it to 16 points. The final quarter witnessed a spirited rally from Reinhardt with Trea Blalock and Marquia White landing significant 3-pointers, but the Seahawks managed to hold on to their lead, ending the game 69-60 in their favor.
I'ziah McCutch led the scoring for Reinhardt with 17 points, supplemented by three assists and three steals, showcasing her all-around play. Additionally, Emariah Grant and Alexus Wilson contributed significantly with 12 and 8 points respectively. Londaisha Smith was a major force on the boards, grabbing 9 rebounds.
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to face the Faulkner University Eagles in Montgomery, Alabama, this Thursday evening. This is a young team with lots of potential once they get a few games under them and players figure out their rolls. However; the youngersters will have to learn quickly as the AAC schedule begins on November 12th when Tennessee Wesleyan comes to town.
