Columbia, KY. - The Reinhardt University women's basketball team faced a challenging game against Campbellsville, losing 63-50 in their regular-season basketball matchup on Saturday afternoon, held at the Biggers Sports Center. Despite a strong start, the Eagles could not maintain their momentum through the four quarters of the game.
Quarter 1 saw the Eagles taking an early lead with a 3-pointer from Emariah Grant, but it was quickly countered by the persistent offense of the Campbellsville Tigers. Londaisha Smith along with I'ziah McCutchins played a crucial part early on, but the Tigers ended the period ahead with a score of 20-15. Notably, Lana VanDyke's defense was instrumental, though it was not enough to hold back Campbellsville.
In the second period, Campbellsville asserted control, extending their lead significantly. Despite efforts from Reinhardt's defense, the halftime board read 35-18 in favor of Campbellsville. The second half mirrored the first, with Campbellsville expanding their lead to 50-29 by the end of the third period, despite a notable defensive play from Chloe VanDyke.
The final quarter featured a determined comeback attempt from Reinhardt, led by Trea Blalock, who ended the game as the top point scorer with 12 points. However, Campbellsville's effective shooting proved overpowering, culminating in a final score of 63-50.
Looking forward, the Reinhardt University Eagles will face Alabama-Huntsville in an away game on Wednesday, November 19th, at 7pm.
