Waleska, GA – The Reinhardt Eagles Women's Lacrosse team had the opportunity to host the 2023 AAC Tournament. Due to Reinhardt finishing #2 in the regular-season, they were given a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The Eagles were set to play the #5 Georgetown College Tigers on Friday afternoon where the Eagles earned a huge win of 19-6 over the Tigers. The Eagles will now move on to the Championship game the following day versus #1 the University of the Cumberlands at 1:00pm.
The Eagles were able to score their first goal in the opening draw control with with a pass from Macy Fulton to the AAC Offensive Player of the Year, Jillian Mello, who put the ball through the net. Although Georgetown was able to tie the game up at 1-1, the Eagles went on a 9-0 run to end the 1st quarter 10-1 with 4 of the goals coming from Shelby O'Neil. The run continued for the Eagles into the 2nd quarter to go up 15-3 at halftime forcing a running clock for the remainder of the game. Reinhardt came out of the half and scored 3 goals in the 3rd quarter and 1 more in the 4th to win this semi-finals matchup over the Tigers 19-6. Shelby O'Neil played an outstanding game with 7 goals, 4 assists, and picked up 12 ground-balls. Defensively, Ashley Steele and Angela Sciacchitano forced the Tigers to 4 turnovers each.
