Eagles dominate Columbia 25-0 on Senior Day in Waleska
Waleska, Ga. - Reinhardt University women's lacrosse delivered a dominant Senior Day performance, rolling to a 25-0 victory over Columbia College on Sunday afternoon in Waleska, Ga., behind six-goal efforts from Lawna Henry and Casey Kidd and a defense that did not allow a single shot.
The Eagles seized control immediately, scoring 11 unanswered goals in the first quarter and never looking back. Henry opened the scoring early in the first, and the offense continued to pour it on as Reinhardt built a 15-0 halftime lead. The advantage grew to 18-0 after three quarters before the Eagles added seven more in the fourth to close out the shutout win.
Henry and Kidd paced a balanced Reinhardt attack that saw goals spread across the lineup. Henry finished with six goals and two assists on eight shots, including a free-position goal to start the third quarter and another strike early in the fourth. Kidd matched her with six goals and one assist on seven shots, repeatedly capitalizing on free-position opportunities, including a late conversion that pushed the margin to 24-0.
The supporting cast was just as effective. Emma Perritte posted two goals and two assists, including a second-quarter tally off a feed from Kidd and the final goal of the day in the closing seconds. Carly Harris added two goals and one assist, setting up an early strike by Lainey Byrne before scoring herself later in the first quarter. Sydney Tucker, Brooke Dawdy, Grace Ashworth, Miranda Petrillo and others contributed to a steady wave of scoring that kept Columbia under pressure in every quarter.
Reinhardt's dominance started with possession. The Eagles controlled 21 draw controls and scooped up 23 ground balls while turning the ball over just twice. That control translated into a 46-0 edge in shots and 35-0 margin in shots on goal. Columbia's goalkeeper faced a constant barrage, finishing with 10 saves against 25 goals allowed. On the other end, the Eagles were perfect in transition, going 7-for-7 on clears and converting multiple free-position chances.
Defensively, Reinhardt was airtight. The Eagles limited Columbia to 17 turnovers, held the visitors without a clear for most of the afternoon (1-for-11 overall) and prevented them from generating any offensive rhythm. Columbia finished without a goal, assist, shot or shot on goal, as Reinhardt's back line and ride consistently disrupted possessions before they could develop.
On a clear, warm day that doubled as Senior Day for eight Eagles, the performance underscored both Reinhardt's depth and its momentum as the season progresses. With a shutout, a 25-goal outburst and contributions throughout the roster, the Eagles used the occasion to celebrate their seniors with one of their most complete efforts of the year in front of the home crowd in Waleska.
