ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The defending Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) champion Eagles have been chosen by the league's coaches to repeat as the AAC's top team, the conference office revealed Thursday afternoon.
Reinhardt - who has never been preseason No. 1 in the history of the AAC - scooped up 13 of the possible 14 first-place votes and tallied 195 total points in the AAC Coaches' Preseason Poll.
A season ago, the Eagles shattered school records en route to the most productive season in team history, including winning the AAC regular season title for the first time with a 17-1 league mark, an initial bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round and a program-best overall record of 29-7.
Union (Ky.) is tabbed to finish second, having received the remaining first-place vote and 177 voting points. The Bulldogs won the 2017 AAC Tournament title, the program's fourth in-a-row, and also advanced to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round and a 31-11 mark.
Rounding out the top five are Point (Ga.) (169 points), Montreat (N.C.) (159 points), and Bluefield (Va.) (128 points).

Once again, the AAC will be divided into divisions with seven playing in the North Division (Bluefield, Bryan, Milligan, Montreat, Tennessee Wesleyan, Truett McConnell and Union), and seven in the South Division (Allen, Brenau, Columbia, Columbia International, Point, Reinhardt and St. Andrews).
The top eight teams in the conference will advance to the 2018 AAC Tournament, which is set for Nov. 8-10 at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center.
