WALESKA, Ga. – The Eagles were able to overcome uncharacteristic errors and sloppy play to move to 12-4 on the season after a 3-0 triumph over visiting Allen (S.C.), 25-22, 25-18, 25-18, Tuesday night at the Brown Athletic Center.
Reinhardt – who is also 3-0 on the young Appalachian Athletic Conference slate – was able to sweep its way to victory despite a total of 16 unforced mistakes.
"After tonight, all I can say is, 'Onto Union on Friday,'" head coach Brian Goodhind said. "We truly need a packed house this Friday night. Our team needs every bit of energy our RU family can bring.
"We will make it a theme night and post soon."
The Yellowjackets were able to stand their ground throughout a lot of the evening, as they continuously made plays and took the lead on numerous occasions in the opening set. In fact, Allen overcame multiple runs by the Eagles to keep the scoreboard all-square at 21-21 before Reinhard ended the first stanza on a 4-1 run.
The visitors regrouped in the next game and opened up a 4-1 lead before Reinhardt put together a 10-1 string to take command. The Yellowjackets would again put pressure on their hosts and get within four points at 20-16, but the Eagles would close out the set on a 5-2 run to claim a 2-0 advantage.
Another big lead (13-4) would get too close for comfort once again, as Allen took control in the middle of set three to get within a pair of scores at 15-13. It would be the closest the Yellowjackets would get the rest of the way, however, as both teams went back and forth until the final whistle.
Reinhardt Scoring Leaders
Kills: Tessa Colden (11), Brianna Baez (7), Cheetara Bing (7)
Aces: Erinn Marroquin (2), Carlee Baxter (1), Kelley Adkins (1)

Assists: Carlee Baxter (18), Erinn Marroquin (16), Angel Cornista (8)
Digs: Tessa Colden (16), Angel Cornista (16), Carlee Baxter (4)
The team looks to move to 5-0 at home on the year when Union (Ky.) comes to town on Friday night for a huge conference clash.
