September 22, 2018
By Mike DeVader, Reinhardt Director of Athletic Communications & Media
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – In what could have been the smoothest victory to-date for Reinhardt on the volleyball court in 2018, the Eagles moved to 15-4 on the year after its 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-14) triumph on the road at Milligan (Tenn.) Saturday morning.
Reinhardt is 6-0 within the Appalachian Athletic Conference following the win after an overnight trip to Tennessee.
"Very proud of our team from this weekend's matches," head coach Brian Goodhind said. "The work they are putting in truly showed these past two matches. Our block and defense was solid again today; six blocks and 59 digs in three sets.
"Great team win – Go Eagles!"
Both sides of the net were rolling for Reinhardt as the Buffaloes were unable to score more than 16 points in any of the sets in the outing. The home team did hold its own midway through the opening stanza, but Reinhardt took the game from 7-7 to 20-9 in a blink of an eye.
Milligan was able to gather together a few scores, but the Eagles finished off the opening set with four of the last five scores.
The second stanza was more of the same, however, the visitors exploded out to a 9-0 lead and 13-2 after the first 15 points. The Buffaloes showed their heart in battling back to within 17-10, but the Eagles held the opposition at bay for a 9-point victory.
Another set full of big runs followed in the third-and-final outing of the day after Reinhardt bolted out to a 20-8 lead before cruising to the sweep after finishing the match scoring four of the last five points.
