WALESKA, Ga. – Back home for the first time in nearly a month, Brianna Baez and Emily Charbonneau helped guide Reinhardt volleyball to a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) victories over St. Andrews (N.C.) (3-0; 25-9, 25-16, 25-18) and Bluefield (Va.) (3-0; 25-16, 25-20, 25-13) Friday inside the Brown Athletic Center.
The Eagles are one of the hottest teams in the nation – having won 18-consecutive matches since starting the year at 4-4 – and now stand at 22-4 (13-0 AAC).
"We are over halfway through the season and it's always huge when you can pick up conference wins," head coach Brian Goodhind said. "As a staff, we have come in and together – with the team – changed the culture here and it's truly such a blessing to watch these girls work so hard and accomplish the things they are accomplishing. I love my girls and they should hear it more of how proud I am of them.
"We went 1-0 twice today, and yes, we could have played with more energy but they found a way together to pull out two big wins."
The aforementioned duo was a big reason why Reinhardt stormed out of the gate against the Knights in the morning outing, as the team hit a cumulative .315, including .522 in the opening set thanks to 13 kills and only one error in 23 total attacks.
Individually, Baez was tops on the roster in kills with nine (hitting .400), one ahead of Cheetara Bing and her .429 performance in match one. Charbonneau, who had seven kills, scored on all but three of her chances (.700).
That kind of offensive production couldn't have come about without the anticipation of Carlee Baxter from her setter spot – 36 assists – to help attack the defense at the right time. She also helped out on the serving line with a team-best three aces.
Kersten Joyner's 10 digs was tops on the stat sheet on defense, as she was followed closely by Angel Cornista (9) and Tessa Colden (8).
Baez also assisted on a trio of blocks.

The nightcap against the Rams allowed the Eagles to play multiple lineups and get quality time for several players on the roster. Bluefield provided a number of challenges throughout the first and second stanzas as the visitors found themselves right in the thick of things in regard to the score.
Reinhardt was able to march through the adversity – especially in set two – and take the momentum into the third-and-final game en route to the sweep. The Rams had their chance to steal a point in the second stanza with the score tied at 19, but watched as the Eagles took six of the final seven points scored in the set, and eventually the competition.
Isabelle Diaz had one of her strongest performances thus far after leading the team in kills with eight and having her hand in a pair of rejections. Charbonneau – who added seven more kills – was second in digs (11) behind Cornista's squad-high 14.
Baxter added another 28 dimes in the positive outcome.
