COLUMBIA, S.C. – A dominant performance on both sides of the net kept Reinhardt volleyball rolling through the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on Thursday, and Allen (S.C.) was no different, as the Eagles were triumphant in straight sets – 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-8).
With the win, combined with an upset of Milligan (Tenn.), Reinhardt is now back-to-back champions of the AAC with a 28-6 mark (17-0 in league play).
"Great team defense tonight… 53 digs in only three sets," head coach Brian Goodhind said. "Kelley Adkins leading the way with 19 digs. Carlee Baxter had a double-double with 35 assists and 12 digs in tonight's three set win versus Allen. I'm happy we made some improvements defensively and our focus is now onto CIU tomorrow."
The Eagles hit an astounding .398 as a group for the night, including over .600 in stanza one alone. They nearly hit .600 again in set three en route to the sweep after committing just two combined errors in the bookend games.
Additional individual highlights include Brianna Baez (.800) and Isabelle Diaz (.750), who collected eight kills and six kills, respectively.
Cheetara Bing led the way offensively in points scored with 12.
