Late Goal Lets Lead Slip Against Tennessee Wesleyan
Athens, TN - The Eagles were coming into the midweek game with Tennessee Wesleyan with a two-game win streak. Reinhardt was looking to keep their streak going and pick up another conference win to go along with the 10-0 shutout of Bluefield on Saturday.
First Half
The Eagles would strike first and early when Maxime Correia would knock one in the back of the net in the second minute of the game. It was looking like Reinhardt might have a scoring barrage like they had in their previous game, however, Tennessee Wesleyan would answer back for the next goal of the half. The Bulldogs' goal in the twelfth minute of the game would tie things up temporarily.
It would not take much longer for the Eagles to separate themselves once more when Andres Jorquera would get the go-ahead score making the game 2-1. Jorquera's goal was assisted by Eagle defender, Raphael Mospanyuk.
The game would hit a scoring stall from this point on and the Eagles would enjoy a narrow 2-1 lead at the half.
Second Half
The second half would start just the way the back end of the first half ended. The play was back and forth with possession being traded between the teams. There would not be many shots on goal by either team for almost the first twenty-five minutes of the second half. In the seventy-six minute, Tennessee Wesleyan would tie the game at 2-2 taking away the road win from the Eagles.
In the final thirteen minutes of the second half, Blake White was able to get two shots on goal, however, both were saved by the Bulldogs' keeper. Tennessee Wesleyan had a few chances as well, but goalie Niko Tzevelekos made sure this did not happen. Tzevelekos ended up with 5 saves on 7 shots on goal in the game.
The game would end with the Eagles getting a tie in this conference game. Reinhardt will be back in action this Saturday with a home game versus Union College. The game is scheduled for a 7 pm start Saturday evening.
