Eagles Softball Splits Two in Grizzly Open Day One

Lawrenceville, GA - The Eagles Softball team was attending the Grizzly Open for an early season, three-day tournament. On the opening day, Reinhardt would face Thomas University and Lindsey Willson College. They would split the games between them winning against Thomas, 9-1, and coming up short against Lindsey Wilson, 0-11.
Game One-
Ally Andriano would get the start at pitcher and look to get to her second win on the season. She was able to pitch all five innings only giving up 4 hits and got 3 strikeouts. The only run the Eagles gave up was in the first inning as Thomas University got a double to center which eventually scored off a follow-up single. That would be the Nighthawks' only run of the game.
The Eagles would have big innings in the first and fourth where they would score 4 runs in the first and 5 in the fourth. Jill Martinet doubled in the first which scored Alexis Teems who had reached on a throwing error by Thomas and Emily Loveless who had singled previously. This was followed up by another double by Alanna Dunson who hit in Martinet. The final run of the inning would come from a single by Kalyn Jinks which scored Dunson.
In the bottom of the fourth, Alexis Griffith would single to lead off. Alexis Teems would follow this with a single to center field. A few batters later, Emily Loveless would draw a walk loading up the bases. Martinet would then single scoring Griffith. The highlight of the inning came when Alanna Dunson hit a grand slam home run scoring Teems, Loveless, and Martinet. This would seal the victory for the Eagles, 9-1.
Game Two
In the second matchup of the day for the Eagles, they would face a tough Lindsey Wilson team. Reinhardt would be held to just one hit in the game and shut out in scoring. Alexis Griffith would get the only hit for the Eagles as she went 1 for 2 on the game hitting. The Eagles gave up runs in the first, third, fourth, and fifth to Lindsey Wilson losing 11-0.
The team will have to put this loss behind them quickly as they will get a second chance at Lindsey Willson on Saturday at 2:30 pm and then they face Cumberlands in their second game of the day at 6:30 pm. The Eagles will wrap up the Grizzly Open on Sunday as they face Thomas again and then the finale with Gwinnett College who is hosting the tourney.
