Waleska, Ga. - Just one day following a doubleheader win versus St. Andrews on Sunday afternoon, the Eagles were back at it on Monday when they hosted the Red Storm of Rio Grand to Ken White Field. Reinhardt would win another two games against a very good Rio Grand team which were 12-6 on the season coming into Monday's game.
GAME ONE, 6-3 Eagles
In game one, the Eagles would do most of their damage in the second inning when they scored four runs. In the second inning, Lauren Parker would lead off with a single and she would be followed with a double by Hannah Kate Singleton. Parker would make it home after Ansley Evans hit a sac fly to center field and this moved Singleton to third. Alexis Griffith would get Singleton by getting a single to right. Shortly after, Alexis Teems was able to get a double which scored Griffith and Kalyn Jinks.
The Eagles would score two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings getting their lead to 6-3. Alexis Teems would lead the Eagles going 4 for 4 and scoring a run. Lauren Parker would go 2 for 3 and scored a run and Alexis Griffith also hit 2 for 4 scoring a run.
Whitney Shepherd would get the starting job for the Eagles and she would get the win. She was able to go the complete seven innings scattering 7 hits and 3 runs over the seven innings. This would be Shepherd's first win of the season.
GAME TWO, 7-1 Eagles
Ally Andriano would get to the starting pitching spot in the game two against Rio Grand. Just as she did on Sunday, Andriano would make it tough for the opponent to score runs. She would go the complete seven innings striking out four and only allowing one run to be scored.
The bats would help out Andriano as the team scored five in the third and fourth innings. The other two runs would come from the first and fifth innings and this would be all that the Eagles needed to sweep the Red Storm.
Alexis Teems would lead the Eagles again going 3 for 4 and scoring 3 runs. Emily Loveless would go 2 for 4 and Griffith and Kalyn Jinks would go 2 for 3 helping the Eagles continue their win streak. The Eagles have a four-game win streak going and they will look to extend this lead when they visit Brevard College in North Carolina this Saturday. The games will be at 1 pm and 3 pm and they can be viewed live on YouTube on Brevard Athletics YouTube channel.
