The Eagles Secure Away WIN Over Keiser 14-10
West Palm Beach, FL. - Reinhardt used a balanced offensive effort and a late power-play strike from Lainey Byrne to secure a 14-10 road victory over Keiser on Monday afternoon in West Palm Beach, Fla. Byrne's free-position goal with 10 seconds remaining closed the scoring and capped a wire-to-wire performance in which the Eagles built separation through the middle quarters and withstood a late Keiser push.
The teams traded blows in a high-scoring first quarter that ended tied 5-5, with Keiser's Tess Geiger converting a free-position attempt in the final minute to pull the Seahawks even. Reinhardt had surged to an early edge behind Byrne, whose first-quarter goal pushed the Eagles in front 4-2, but Keiser answered to erase the deficit before the break. That deadlock, however, marked the last time the game would be even.
Reinhardt seized control in the second quarter, outscoring Keiser 6-0 to take an 11-5 halftime lead. Special situations were critical during that stretch. Lawna Henry delivered a short-handed goal early in the period to make it 7-5, giving the Eagles momentum while playing down a player. Byrne then added a man-up goal with 1:46 left in the half to extend the margin to 10-5, and Reinhardt continued to capitalize on free-position and extra-player opportunities as the half closed.
The Eagles' offense featured multiple scoring options, led by a standout all-around effort from Marissa Davis. Davis finished with three goals and three assists on seven shots, factoring into nearly half of Reinhardt's 14 goals. Byrne and Henry each recorded hat tricks as well, with Henry adding an assist on four total points. Hanna Peace contributed a key free-position goal at the 10:06 mark of the third quarter to push the lead to 12-5, and Ava Pieron's man-up strike early in the fourth made it 13-7 and helped Reinhardt stay comfortably ahead.
Keiser generated offense of its own, finishing with 28 shots and 24 shots on goal, but could not fully overcome Reinhardt's second-quarter surge. Geiger and Milena Isturiz paced the Seahawks with three goals apiece, with Geiger adding an assist. Isturiz scored late in the third to trim the deficit to 12-7, and Keiser continued to chip away in the fourth quarter, pulling within four before the Eagles' late insurance goal.
Statistically, Reinhardt made its 25-shot effort count, putting 21 attempts on target and converting for 14 goals while collecting nine assists as a team. The Eagles also produced three power-play goals and went 14-for-20 on clears. Keiser held slight advantages in ground balls (17-16) and draw controls (15-12) and forced 17 Reinhardt turnovers, but the Eagles' efficiency on extra-player chances and free-position attempts helped offset those numbers.
Goalkeeper play was another difference-maker. Reinhardt's Madison Hasty turned away 14 shots while playing all 60 minutes, matching Keiser's 24 shots on goal with timely saves to protect the lead. Keiser finished with seven saves on the day. With the win, Reinhardt left West Palm Beach having showcased a balanced attack, strong special-teams play and steady goaltending.
Up next, Reinhardt will be playing at Piedmont College on March 4th, at 1pm.
